Plasterwork

We have a number of specialists who are expert in cleaning and restoring ornate plasterwork, and have undertaken many projects in period properties around London. We have excellent relationships with a number of specialist coving companies and therefore access to a huge historical back catalogue of moulds. In other cases it is necessary to make a new mould as the coving is unique.

We are also able to offer cost-effective solutions to the repair of coving and other mouldings whilst retaining the integrity of the plasterwork.

Please contact us or return the online enquiry form to find out more about the services we offer.

Note the wealth of detail revealed by the cleaning process.

Ceiling rose

Careful restoration of Victorian ceiling rose.

There is a great risk in attempting restoration of plasterwork without the specialist help; poor repairs look worse than the original damage, and cause further complication and cost when a proper restoration is undertaken.

Carpentry

Bench seatThis bench seat was restored from very poor condition. The base required sympathetic reinforcement, avoiding over-zealous reconstruction that would compromise the integrity of the original work.

Note our bespoke curved laminated support. The internal structure was rebuilt using matching materials.

The top of the bench was refitted and trimmed to allow for the movement that is almost inevitable in a building over 100 years old. Suitably enhanced it is now a key feature in the client’s home.

Fireplaces

Fireplace

This fireplace was restored using original parts with careful repairs to match the existing fireplace in the room. The original fireback and inset tiles were in good condition having been long covered over.

The wooden surround was in a poor repair and was replaced by another, reclaimed from a separate location, and is an exact match to the existing surround. However, the two mantle shelves had previously been removed, so replacements were tooled on site to match precisely. All that is required to complete the restored fireplace is a new mirror.
