ARCHITECTURE - CONSTRUCTION - INTERIOR DESIGN Total project integration and management
Preserving and enhancing period detailing is a critical part of any renovation project. Deciding what should be kept and what can be removed with integrity is not an easy task. However much one loves the old, progress still has to be made. But achieving a reasonable balance is crucial - period features are highly prized by most buyers and are heavily marketed in estate agents’ prospectuses.
These concerns are a speciality of our work, and if you are considering undertaking a project of this kind, we would value the opportunity to visit you and discuss your plans.

This covers a wide range of techniques, from piecing in reclaimed replacement brick or stone, to partial or complete re-pointing, or blending in previous poor replacement. The piebald look is all too common - cheap re-pointing and other repairs are generally to blame. These pictures show the results of soot washing a Georgian property.
We generally don’t recommend cleaning as it can cause severe damage to old London brick. The visual improvement of soot washing is dramatic and shows what can be done with a little thought and care, and as an alternative to the potentially damaging effects of cleaning.
